KABA-SD Endorses Patricia Hollenbeck for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Patricia Hollenbeck for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Hollenbeck has held leadership position in various bar associations, including Lawyers Club of San Diego, for which she served as President of Lawyers Club in 2014-2015. During her career, Ms. Hollenbeck, a partner at Duane Morris, and a daughter to an immigrant mother from Peru, has consistently supported other diversity bar organizations, especially through her involvement withLawyers Club. Once on the SDCBA Board, Ms. Hollenbeck intends to continue promoting diversity through SDCBA by developing more interactive partnerships between minority bar associations, such as KABA-SD, and the SDCBA. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Ms. Hollenbeck in her candidacy for the SDCBA Board.

KABA-SD Endorses Frank Barone for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Frank Barone for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Barone has been involved in various bar associations, including Tom Homann LGBT Law Association, as well as the SDCBA. Mr. Barone, who has served as a public defender for approximately 19 years, also co-founded San Diego County Public Defender Community Outreach Program. Throughout his career, Mr. Barone, has supported the rights of LGBT and women. Once on the SDCBA Board, Mr. Barone intends to continue promoting diversity, with a focus on attorney mentoring, and will enhance the Board by providing his perspective and experience in indigent defense. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Mr. Barone in his candidacy for the SDCBA Board.

KABA-SD Endorses Renée Galente for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Renée Galente for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Galente has held leadership positions in various bar associations, including California Women Lawyers, San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association (“SDLRLA”), Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Alumni Association. During her career, she has consistently supported other diversity bar organizations, including supporting past events put on by both KABA-SD and SDLRLA. Once on the SDCBA Board, Ms. Galente intends to mentor law students and young attorneys, and to continue collaboration between the different diversity bar organizations. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Ms. Galente in her candidacy for the SDCBA Board.

KABA-SD Endorses Ana Romanskaya for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Anna Romanskaya for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Romanskaya has strong leadership skills and is deeply committed to diversity. She has been involved and has held leadership positions in local and national bar associations, including the SDCBA, Lawyers Club, and the American Bar Association (ABA). Ms. Romanskaya just completed her 3 year term as a board member for Lawyers Club, where she focused her service on advancing the status of women in law and society. As the incoming Chair-Elect of the Young Lawyers Division of the ABA, she has intimate knowledge of major national issues regarding the administration of and access to legal services. Ms. Romanskaya will be able to educate the SDCBA on these issues and raise awareness at the local level. Ms. Romanskaya promises to focus on creating leadership training for young lawyers, and on supporting and collaborating with diversity bar organizations. KABA-SD Endorses Srinivas Hanumadass for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Srinivas Hanumadass for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Mr. Hanumadass is strongly committed to diversity and the community, having served as president for two terms of the South Asian Bar Association of San Diego (SABA-SD). He also actively supports other diversity bar organizations, which directly benefited KABA-SD through his efforts to co-founding our first speed networking event. Mr. Hanumadass’ primary focus is on mentoring younger attorneys and law students, and he intends to continue his efforts to put them in positions to succeed and pay it forward to the next generation of future attorneys once on the SDCBA Board. His passion for mentoring combined with his significant involvement in the community and in the legal profession makes Mr. Hanumadass a great candidate for the SDCBA Board.

KABA-SD Endorses Johanna Schiavoni for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Johanna Schiavoni for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Schiavoni promises to prioritize career development, diversity and inclusion, and transparency in the governance of the SDCBA. Specifically, she intends to promote diversity by encouraging diverse leaders to run for committee positions and influencing policy so that current leaders can be trained to be aware of diversity. Ms. Schiavoni has prior leadership experience and relationships at the SDCBA, which will better enable her to make changes within SDCBA starting from the beginning of her term. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Ms. Schiavoni and her vision to improve the San Diego Country Bar Association as one of its Directors.

KABA-SD Endorses Stephanie Chow for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Stephanie Chow for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Ms. Chow has spent her legal career working for the California Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office, during which time she has also served as President of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego (PALSD) and as Chair of the SDCBA’s Ethnic Relations and Diversity Committee. Through this service, Ms. Chow has evidenced both her leadership abilities and her commitment to diversity, and the KABA-SD Board is certain that her election would enhance the SDCBA Board. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Ms. Chow and her vision to improve the San Diego Country Bar Association as one of its Directors.

KABA-SD Endorses Brad Weinreb for San Diego Superior Court

After careful consideration, the KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Brad Weinreb for the position of San Diego Superior Court judge. Mr. Weinreb is a long-time prosecutor, and the KABA-SD Board was impressed with his awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs of the Asian communities and with his expressed his interests and support for such communities. Mr. Weinreb is knowledgeable in various topics including criminal and First Amendment issues; is attuned to the need for efficiency in the judicial system; has committed to local specialty bar associations; actively works to educate others through written articles and volunteer work with those in need; and shows fairness and neutrality, all of which will make him well-suited for the bench. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Mr. Weinreb in his quest for this important position.

KABA-SD Endorses Lilys McCoy for San Diego County Bar Association Board of Directors

The KABA-SD Board has voted to endorse Lilys D. McCoy for a seat on the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Board of Directors. Since 1992, Ms. McCoy has served on the boards and committees of numerous legal organizations, including the SDCBA, Lawyers Club, and San Diego Inn of Court. After practicing 22 years as a consumer attorney, Ms. McCoy joined Thomas Jefferson School of Law as the supervisor of the Trial Team and director of the Center for Solo Practitioners and the Solo Practice Concentration. Throughout her career, Ms. McCoy has demonstrated her dedication to the legal profession, diversity, and equal access to justice. The KABA-SD Board is proud to support Ms. McCoy and her vision to improve the legal profession as a Director of the San Diego Country Bar Association.

KABA-SD Endorses Jin Hwang for NAPABA’s President Elect

KABA-SD has vetted both candidates and the Board has voted to endorse Jin Hwang for the position of President Elect in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) elections. All KABA-SD members are eligible to vote in the ongoing NAPABA elections before the Sept. 12th deadline.
