Our community, both the Korean American community and our San Diego community, was struck by tragedy on Monday, December 8, 2008, when a military jet crashed into a home in University City and killed three generations of a family. Dong Yun Yoon lost his wife, Youngmi Yoon, his two children, Grace (15 months) and Rachel (6 weeks), and his mother in law, Suk Im Kim. Last night a memorial service was held at the family’s church, the Korean United Methodist Church of San Diego. Funeral services are still pending. Donations for the family can be directed to: “Don Yoon, #200-717-333, SD Hanmi Bank.”  Donations may also be sent to his church: Dong Yun Yoon, c/o Rev. Kevin Lee, Korean United Methodist Church, 3520 Mount Acadia Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111.

We’ve made it through our first successful year and we could not have done so without the support of you, our members.  You have helped establish a strong foundation for KABA-SD in this community.  We need to maintain that success and build on our momentum from the first year and to do so, we need your continued help and support.

The KABA-SD and KAC-SD Inaugural Annual Dinner and Installation of Officers was a great success thanks to our supporters.  It was a beautiful night filled with laughter, food and fun.  The memorable event was featured in several Korean news publications: SDJoongAngUSA, Hanin News , and KoreaDaily (Please click on the respective links for the Korean articles).
