August 2nd, 2016 No comments

KABA-SD is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 KABA-SD Bar Exam Scholarships. KABA-SD has great confidence that both recipients are headed for meaningful careers and much success. After reviewing each candidate’s written application materials, conducting personal interviews, and conferring with references, the Scholarship Committee has decided to award this year’s KABA-SD Bar Scholarships to Jonathan Chikamoto and Suzane Santiago-Hinkle:

Jonathan Chikamoto obtained his undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Philosophy at Linfield College. He is currently a law student at California Western School of Law and is graduating in April 2017. Jonathan is active in the local community and involved in various organizations in and out of law school. In particular, Jonathan was the President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), a student representative for the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego (PALSD), and an active member of KABA-SD. Jonathan also frequently volunteers his time to various diversity bar organizations in San Diego, and will be heavily involved with the new Japanese American Bar Association in San Diego. He hopes to pursue a career in trust and estates.

Suzane Santiago-Hinkle obtained her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Guam. She is currently a law student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and is graduating in May 2017. Suzane has been involved in various organizations throughout law school. She served on two student organization boards, including the La Raza Law Students Association and the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA). She will be serving as the President of APALSA for the 2016-2017 academic year and will also serve as a student representative for the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego (PALSD). Suzane hopes to pursue a career as an immigration attorney, with the ultimate goal of becoming a judicial officer.

Congratulations to both Jonathan Chikamoto and Suzane Santiago-Hinkle, and thank you to all who showed interest in and supported this year’s KABA-SD Bar Scholarship program.
