August 28th, 2015 No comments

KABA-SD is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 KABA-SD Bar Exam Scholarships. KABA-SD has great confidence that both recipients are headed for meaningful careers and much success. After reviewing each candidate’s written application materials, conducting personal interviews, and conferring with references, the Scholarship Committee has decided to award this year’s KABA-SD Bar Scholarships to Amanda Gracia and Julie T. Houth:

Amanda Gracia obtained her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Alabama State University. She is currently a third year law student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, graduating in May 2016. Amanda is active in the local community, particularly in support of youth organization efforts. She served as a mentor in Thomas Jefferson’s Crawford Law Institute & Mentorship Bond, where she supported Crawford High students in their Mock Trial and Alternative Dispute Resolution projects. Amanda hopes to serve in an area of law that allows her to continue making an impact on youth. She looks forward to more opportunities to learn about the Korean culture and serving as a future leader at KABA-SD events.

Julie T. Houth obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of California Irvine. She attended Thomas Jefferson School of law, and graduated in December 2014. Julie has been involved in various organizations throughout law school, and is still active in the community. During law school, she was involved in the Public Interest Law Foundation where she participated in a number of community service events. She was also involved with the Immigration Law Society at Thomas Jefferson where she organized a tour of an immigration detention center, volunteered at a citizenship fair, and hosted immigration career panels. Julie continues to contribute her time to helping members of the community. She hopes to pursue a career as an immigration attorney and to assist individuals with limited English skills. The Board is pleased to award this scholarship to Julie, and we look forward to seeing her at future KABA-SD events!

Congratulations to both Amanda Gracia and Julie T. Houth, and thank you to all who showed interest in and supported this year’s KABA-SD Bar Scholarship program.
